Background
Zig-Zag Wave Patterns are what I consider to be the back-bone of Elliott’s various Corrective Wave Patterns since Zig-Zag Wave Patterns are the most common type of Corrective Wave Pattern.
Zig-Zag Wave Patterns sub-divide into a 5-3-5 sequence. A Zig-Zag Wave Pattern could represent an entire Corrective Wave Pattern, or it could be just the beginning of a longer Corrective Wave Pattern, such as a Triangle Wave Pattern or a Double Zig-Zag Wave Pattern. A Triangle Wave Pattern develops from a series of consecutive Zig-Zag Wave Patterns.
Zig-Zag Wave Patterns tend to be one of the easier Corrective Wave Patterns to identify, that is until several Zig-Zag Wave Patterns are combined together, like in a Double Zig-Zag Wave Pattern.
Double Zig-Zag Wave Patterns are very complex wave patterns that usually develop over a period of several weeks or months. The one difference with Double Zig-Zag Wave Patterns when compared to normal Zig-Zag Wave Patterns – Double Zig-Zag Wave Patterns tend to correct shallower over a longer period of time whereas normal Zig-Zag Wave Patterns are usually faster and deeper corrections.
